A taxi and a suitcase
It’s been almost 2 months since my “One suitcase
journey” finished. It has definitely been an amazing and unbelievable
experience for both: me and my mom. But while sitting at home and going through
some stuff I realized that I forgot to tell you the epic end of this trip, THE
GRAND FNALE if you will. So please, sit back and enjoy as I tell you two last
stories of this trip.
Taxi:
So, if you’re a girl, you know that annoying thing
when you go on a trip with one suitcase but come back with two fully packed suitcases?
You don’t? Well, okay, I am guilty! But what’s done is done, and so we take our
heavy bags out of a hotel room and wait for a taxi on the street in a pouring
rain. The airport is 40 minutes’ drive from the city center and we were lucky
enough to have a nice driver. But I need to be honest: if I was travelling
alone I wouldn’t be too happy to be stuck with him in this car, because of how
talkative he was. I personally hate small talk but he was distracting my mom
from bothering me so I was glad. We got to the airport in 50 minutes and by
that time he told us the entire story of his life, about his wife, how they moved to this city and everything about his children. As we got a parking ticket (a
ticket with the exact time you entered parking lot; if you spend more than 10
minutes on a parking lot - you pay) my mother said: “We can get out right here so
you don’t have to pay”. And he was like: “Yeah, thanks that would be awesome!”
He stopped the car and helped us with our baggage. We simply said: “Thanks” and ran
in the building. As we were staying in a line to wrap our bags and check in my mom
reached to her back pocket and began to freak out as she took out money, which we were supposed to give to our taxi driver. She forgot. Next half
an hour she spent on the phone trying to find a way to give money to that exact
driver but all her attempts were unsuccessful. And this is how we got to the airport for free. It
is worth noting that the taxi was pretty expensive even for that long
destination. At the end we got a free ride and my mom got a little panic attack
to prepare her for what was about to happen.
Suitcase:
As this story started with me complaining about
suitcase it shall finish with the same complain but this time much more
relatable, I promise. We were to have 2 flights back home and after first
flight I was supposed to collect my luggage and check in for the second time.
Yes, only me, because my mom had a transit ticket and her baggage was sent right
to the final destination. But it all so happened that first flight was delayed
for an hour and the time to collect my bag and re-check in changed from 1,5 hour
to 30 minutes. It was simply impossible for me to re-check in if I had left to
collect luggage. So we were left with no choice but to go back home without
that suitcase which inspired the entire story about this trip. Not going to lie
I was pretty sad about this incident, mostly because I was supposed to leave 9
hours after we land and now I had no suitcase to go.
But at the end it all went well. Luckily I fond bags
to take with me and my suitcase was returned the next day. This trip was a real
life lesson, I am glad that you joined me on it and I am even gladder that I
was able to share this hilarious and sometimes anxious story of my “One
suitcase journey”.😉
